Ann Coulter rejects Berkeley's proposal to reschedule her speech

The University of California, Berkeley, on Thursday reversed its decision to cancel a speech on immigration by conservative commentator Ann Coulter in April.

Ann Coulter appeared on Tucker Carlson's Fox News show last night to discuss the situation.

Coulter said in an email to The Washington Post on Wednesday that the university had been trying to force her to cancel her speech by "imposing ridiculous demands" on her but that she still agreed "to all of their silly requirements".

"Unfortunately, (campus police) determined that, given now active security threats, it is not possible to assure that the event could be held successfully", according to a letter sent to the student group.

An appearance by right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannoupolos in early February led to violent protests and was canceled before the talk began by agreement with the Berkeley College Republicans, which had sponsored that event as well.

She said she accepted the terms but the school called off the event anyway. "Berkeley just imposed an all-new arbitrary &harassing (sic) condition on my exercise of a constitutional right".

"It's at an terrible time", Naweed Tahmas, of the Berkeley College Republicans told the Chronicle of the administration's revised date proposal.

Judge Jeanine Pirro weighed in this morning on the decision by University of California-Berkeley to cancel a planned speech by conservative author Ann Coulter. She also pointed out that May 2 would coincide with a reading period before final exams, when there are no classes on campus and a fewer students around.

"One of the country's best-known conservative pundits, Coulter had been scheduled to speak to a college Republican club about her 2015 book, "¬°Adios, America!: "The Left's Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole". In a separate tweet she said she's not free May 2 and added that there are no classes the week of May 2. "Coulter, we were informed, would be required to deliver her speech in the afternoon; only students would be allowed to attend; and the speech location would not be announced until close to the event", Spencer Brown wrote in a YAF article.

The decision to shelve Coulter's appearance at the campus that gave birth to the Free Speech Movement of the 1960s came days after opponents and supporters of President Donald Trump clashed in the city.

"If that's banned, then no conservative can speak", Coulter told THR on Wednesday.

"They are now gonna say, 'if you say things that we don't like, it's not protected by the First Amendment.'".

In addition to Drudge, Coulter also accused the New York Times and the Daily Californian of being "fake news" for their reports of the rescheduled event.
