Sharks drug arrest 'disappointing': CEO

Reports Sharks Chairman Charged With Drug Possession

Sydney Roosters star Shaun Kenny-Dowall was charged with drug possession after allegedly found with just under half a gram of the cocaine at a Sydney nightclub.

Keogh, a three-time Olympic basketballer, stood down from his role with the Sharks on Saturday after he was arrested the previous night at a Woolloomooloo pub in inner-city Sydney.

The pair will also be subject to punishment from the New Zealand Rugby League, with a committee to meet this week.

'He expressed great remorse to me that he let me down personally and felt that if the allegations are proven correct - then the impact it could have on the club and the game'.

"The man was issued with a field court attendance notice (similar to an infringement notice) for the offence of possess prohibited drug", he said.

"He's very distressed (and) disappointed in potential outcomes for the club and the game".

Gorman was also forced to defend allegations of a drug problem at the club after superstar fullback Ben Barba also departed at the end of last season after testing positive for a second time to cocaine.

"Although I can't remember exactly what happened, I don't deny it", Proctor said.

Meanwhile Bromwich and Proctor's names were reportedly mentioned in a court case in Canberra on Saturday morning, according to the ABC.

CCTV surfaced appearing to show the moment Keogh was stopped by police inside The Bells Hotel on Friday evening after a long lunch with friends but he refused to elaborate on events that followed.

Cronulla Sharks CEO Lyall Gorman said this weekend Keogh stepped down from his role as chairman in what he labelled a "very challenging, very disappointing day" for the sport. "We are awaiting further details from the Sharks about what has occurred", Greenberg said.
