Former convenor of AAP's Punjab unit Gurpreet Singh Waraich "Ghuggi" on Wednesday resigned from the primary membership of the party, expressing displeasure over the process of Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann's appointment as the new state unit chief.
He lashed out at AAP national leaders for not taking Punjab leaders into confidence while taking major decisions.
The party mp said Ghuggi was right in pointing out that a drunkard should not have been appointed to the newly created post of State President which replaces the nomenclature of State Convener "as a leopard can not change its spots".

"Sarabjit Kaur Manuke MLA from Jagraon has been appointed Deputy Leader of the Legislature party in Vidhan Sabha", an AAP spokesman said in Chandigarh.
Sandhu had condemned the party high commands move appointing Mann as the state chief saying that it would lead to conflict among volunteers.
Apparently while interacting with the media Bhagwant Mann further added that the party was gearing up to "expose the Congress-Akali-BJP nexus. The party would take holistic approach towards all issues to refurbish the party base in Punjab", he added.
Ghuggi was a former chief of AAP's Punjab unit. Kejriwal should tell Punjabis why he has imposed a confirmed drunkard on them. "I have won with the highest vote margin in AAP in Punjab and also the third highest vote taker in the state among all three parties", he said.Referring to the dissent over Mann's appointment, Arora said it was nothing serious and that Mann had a great ability to pull people towards him.
The jolt of Ghuggi leaving the party came on a day when a senior leader from Amritsar, Upkar Singh Sandhu, was expelled over alleged anti-party activities.
"I have asked (Arvind) Kejriwal to remove me from the posts of the party's chief whip in the Assembly and party spokesperson with immediate effect", the Bholath MLA had said. "I can't work under the leadership of a person who has been appointed (by party convener Arvind Kejriwal) on the condition that he will not drink (alcohol)".
