For first time since 1973, Miami baseball not in NCAAs

For the fourth time in five years, in was selected to the NCAA Division I baseball tournament on Monday. Mizzou last made an NCAA regional in 2012 when Tim Jamieson's team won the Big 12 tournament and earned the league's automatic berth. They finished third in the Pac-12 with a record of 19-11.

With the Hurricanes being left on the outside looking in of the NCAA Baseball Regionals, Florida State takes over as owning the NCAA's longest active streak of consecutive tournament appearances with 41.

The Tigers will play Texas-Southern at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Texas is headed far west for the NCAA Tournament, Sam Houston State is headed to West Texas while Dallas Baptist is simply headed across the Metroplex.

Regional play continues through Monday (June 5) with a double-elimination format.

The Knights have appeared in NCAA Regionals 11 times previously, including seven times in Tallahassee, twice in Gainesville, and once at both Columbia and Miami. The 1982 Texas team, which played a similar number of regular-season games as Oregon State, entered that year's tournament 53-4.

Note: Texas Tech, ranked No. 3 by D1baseball.com, is hosting a regional in back-to-back seasons for the second time in school history. Those winners move on to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

The victor of the Winston-Salem Regional is paired against the survivor of a Gainesville, Fla., bracket that includes host Florida, South Florida, Bethune-Cookman and Marist. North Carolina (47-12) is No. 2, Florida (42-16), the top seed in 2016, is No. 3 and is followed by LSU (43-17).

Game 2 - No. 1 Arkansas vs. Auburn hasn't advanced to a Super Regional since 1999. As it stands today with the No. 4 seed the Tigers will host a regional, and if they win the regional they will host a Super Regional the following weekend in Baton Rouge. Vanderbilt plays St. John's on Friday at noon on SEC Network and ESPN3.
