Ravens Sign Two New Cornerbacks, Release Kyle Arrington

In correspondence with the signing of cornerback Brandon Boykin, the Ravens have released cornerback Kyle Arrington according to the team's official Twitter account. The Bears signed him to a one-year contract last spring, but the injury landed him on injured reserve in August.

Boykin, 26, was a fourth-round draft pick (123rd overall) of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012 and has played four National Football League seasons. He signed with the Carolina Panthers during free agency in 2016 but was cut about two months later and joined the Bears.

Boykin's best season was in 2013 when he tallied 47 tackles in 16 games, registered six interceptions, forced two fumbles and scored a touchdown.

The veteran cornerback will fill a need for Baltimore that opened when starting cornerback Tavon Young suffered a season-ending knee injury last week.

Boykin spent the first three seasons of his career with the Eagles before being traded to the Steelers. He was released with a failed physical designation. Arrington played primarily in the slot for Baltimore.

Shabazz, 24, appeared in eight games last season with the Steelers and Texans. The move frees up approximately $2.1 million in cap space.

Before signing Boykin and Shabazz to ease Young's departure, coach John Harbaugh has praised the group's depth and experience during offseason training activities.
