Siri, speakers and software: Highlights from the Apple show

The HomePod lets use your voice to play music and control HomeKit devices like smart light bulbs or thermostats, as well as letting you chat with Siri. Google Home followed in October and Microsoft's assistant, Cortana, is also finding a home in home speakers. Users can access best stories hand-picked daily by Apple News editors in the new Spotlight tab and also the most popular videos of the day in Today View. Jan Dawson, chief analyst with Jackdaw Research, says the price is good for a high-end audio device.

Siri- Siri is now fitted with more artificial intelligence that can learn from users' actions. For example, if you visit the mall, it will show you the detail floor plans of the mall with place cards, directory and search and it will help you to browse by floor, supporting few major cities and airports.

"Apple reinvented portable music with iPod, and now HomePod will reinvent how we enjoy music wirelessly throughout our homes", said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide marketing. The current version is just Sierra.

Apple Music- With Apple Music, you can now see what your friends are listening to and check out shared playlists. You can even manage various tasks and the watch will help you in doing so. In one demo, Apple executive Craig Federighi pointed a camera at a table on stage and added a virtual coffee cup and a lamp on the real table. It comes with a new A10X processor that will enhance gaming and overall app performance.

In addition to Siri Watch Face, Apple has developed a kaleidoscope Watch Face with new characters to give Micky and Minnie Mouse some company. So far, interest in VR has been strongest among gamers, developers and hardware makers rather than everyday users.

This isn't Apple's first attempt to enter the home audio market.

Besides the HomePod, Apple unveiled a raft of new and upgraded products, including a new computer in the shape of the $4,999 iMac Pro. Yet it isn't as bulky as the 12.9-inch model.

The keynote also revealed a new AR-focused company from critically-acclaimed director and FX guru Peter Jackson called "Wingnut AR".

The new iMac Pro starts at $5,000 and will ship in December.

Apple also introduced new summer band colors, giving customers more options than ever to express their personal style.

With the next version of the iOS system for mobile devices, messages will sync in the cloud. These devices will only keep the most recent messages in local storage. Although the format is not exclusive to Apple, it's not yet clear how well the photos will work with non-Apple software and devices, which mostly use JPEG. Apple will also have new tools for organizing photos and creating sharable videos. Before, Apple Pay transactions could be done only with businesses and institutions.

Apple may have found a way to end the risky practice of texting while driving.

Joel Feldman also lost his daughter to a distracted driver in 2009 and founded the advocacy group End Distracted Driving.

The free update to iOS 11 is coming later this year.
