The iPhone forever changed the way I think about phones

The iPhone 10 years on: from innovation to compromise

The iPhone "fundamentally changed the way we thought about phones as well as defining what the industry considered a smartphone". Its multitouch screen and digital keyboard were highlights. In what would normally have been a year for a new design, the iPhone 7 instead was effectively an iPhone 6ss: new internals in more or less the same external design as its predecessor.

The iPhone 3GS, launched in 2009, had an S for "speed". The glass on top got tougher with a harder case on the out, the 6S received the new pressure sensitive 3D touch display with Live Photos feature. A 2010 iPhone 4 8GB, for instance, sold this week at $100 on eBay. An iPod, a phone ... are you getting it?

The first ever iPhone prototype was made in 1983. While earlier leaks showed off a handset with a Touch ID sensor on the rear, in the later models, the sensor has now disappeared, which could indicate that Apple mastered the technology to embed it into the display. With a faster processor and better camera, the device wasn't as sturdy as the previous gen iPhones, but the new fresh design got a thumbs up from the audience. It also added LTE support for new 4G networks.

Apple hasn't forgotten about improving performance, especially if we compare the iPhone 7 Plus with its first iteration. However, Ballmer and many others would be taken by surprise at the monumental rise of what many consider the first mass market smartphone.

Equipped with a stylus and touchscreen, the phone wasn't exactly a looker and it was never released to market, but it's interesting to see evidence of the process behind the creation of Apple's revolutionary device. Refusing to give hardware developers information about the device's software, and software developers no information regarding its hardware, many Apple employees were just as curious as viewers of its reveal event about what the phone would look like. The iPhone 6 Plus had a more advanced camera with optical image stabilization to help users take better pictures, too.

However Munster does not explain why sales might drop off, but the reason might be simple. Revenue is inching higher this year, but still shy of fiscal 2015's pace.

Select the Camera option on your old phone and press the big red recording button, to turn it into a home monitoring decice. That didn't actually arrive until July 2008 with the iPhone 3G, and third party apps weren't the only thing missing from the first iPhone.

Even though the alleged iPhone 8 is smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus that features a 5.5-inch screen, rumors have claimed that the iPhone 8 would be equipped with a 5.8-inch screen. Or vice versa. The smooth rounded edges of the iPhone 8 is nothing we haven't seen before.

While this sound intriguing, Apple has yet to confirm that it is working on such a product. The phone came in the much sought after jet black colour.
