Alexandre Lacazette: Arsenal in negotiations to sign French striker from Lyon

Alexandre Lacazette

Lyon finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season and star striker Alexandre Lacazette has been strongly linked with an exit.

Arsenal are reportedly edging closer to securing the signing of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette after increasing their offer for the French global.

However, speaking again to Canal Plus on Tuesday evening (27 June), Aulas claimed that he could not see Lacazette departing the Parc Olympique Lyonnais just yet.

"I do not think that Alexandre Lacazette will leave this summer, ' he said, and in a further setback for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Aulas suggested Lacazette could join Atletico when their transfer ban is lifted in January, adding 'it's possible".

"The moment hasn't come to reach an agreement with Arsenal under current conditions (offered),' he said, despite growing reports to the contrary and Aulas" own words earlier in the day.

"I am a competitive player even if I have to improve in all areas, I really want to work and help the club achieve its goals". "I do not have anything to say about Olivier Giroud".

Olivier Giroud, who struggled to break into Arsenal's first team last term, is thought to be high on Aulas' wish list, but he was tight-lipped on a potential swap deal.

Aulas confirmed Lyon's interest in Giroud on Wednesday, describing him as "one of the players who might interest us", but doubted whether the player himself would be willing to leave Arsenal.
