Sevilla agree to sell captain Vicente Iborra to Leicester in £15m deal

Danny Drinkwater battles Sevilla's Vicente Iborra during their Champions League Round of 16 match at the King

The midfielder is now set to fly to the East Midlands to negotiate personal terms and complete a medical.

He has already signed Harry Maguire, the central defender, for £17 million from Hull City and expressed an interest in Eldin Jakupovic, the Hull City goalkeeper.

Iborra faced Leicester in the Champions League last 16 in March with the English side progressing over two legs.

Sevilla announce that a deal has been agreed with Leicester City for the sale of Vicente Iborra.

The defensive midfielder, who stands at 6ft 3in tall, has lifted the Europa League on three occasions during his time at Sevilla and scored seven goals last season. "Once the transfer is concluded, he will return to Seville to publicly bid farewell to the fans".

If everything goes as expected, Vicente Iborra will leave Nervión after four seasons of delivery and commitment, wearing the armband as captain in his last campaign.

"Iborra has always shown an exemplary behaviour and has earned the unanimous love and respect of all Sevillians", the club said. Danny Drinkwater and Wilfred N'Didi were the starting duo in the Foxes' team, with Andy King, Daniel Amartey, Matty James, Nampalys Mendy, Harvey Barnes all waiting in the wings.

Leicester fans, will Iborra be a good addition to the midfield?

What qualities will Iborra bring to Leicester?

If Leicester do manage to secure the services of Iborra, it should definitely help them in their pursuit for a top-10 finish under new boss Craig Shakespeare next season.
