Police Arrest Man at Liverpool Airport In Connection With Manchester Bombing

Manchester Arena suicide bomber may not have acted alone – police

A police spokesman said: 'A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the attack at Manchester Arena.

The otherwise unidentified male was arrested at Liverpool John Lennon airport, although officers did not say whetrher he was attempting to leave, or returning to the country.

'As it stands 23 people have now been arrested in connection with this investigation, of which two were quickly de-arrested, and 20 were released without charge.

He confirmed that police now wanted to interview brother Hashem Abedi, who was arrested in Tripoli after the attack at an Ariana Grande concert.

It is said to be liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Libyan authorities. "We do however suspect others were either aware or complicit in the knowledge of this attack".

In a chilling account of the hours prior to the attack, Jackson revealed that Abedi had spent several hours "milling around" the busy city centre before eventually deciding to detonate his bomb at the concert.

While authorities still believe that "more arrests are possible", in the wake of the attack that killed 22 people, they're learning more about Abedi's life.

"We are still working to understand the manner by which he became radicalised", Jackson told reporters at Greater Manchester Police headquarters this week.

"We are examining all sorts of lines of inquiry and it is possible more arrests and searches will take place", he said.

A Libyan counterterrorism official has said Hashem Abedi knew that his brother was planning something, and said Salman Abedi had been radicalized in Britain.

The police have also said that calls Abedi made on the night of the attack are also being investigated.
