Handcuffed man proposes to girlfriend while police arrest him on felony warrants

Woman says

Police body camera video captured Brandon Thompson being arrested for six felony warrants on his birthday.

"When the other officer told me he was gonna propose I think my initial response was, are you kidding me?" "Can I propose to her?"

The officers couldn't believe what was happening but made a decision to help Thompson during his big moment.

While in cuffs, Thompson asked his mother to retrieve his ring for him while the officers proceeded to move his cuffs to the front so he could place the ring on his fiancé's finger.

The officers agreed to let Thompson propose. It looks like a few police officials were in favor of the moment, specifically the Muskogee Police Department's spokesman, Lincoln Anderson.

"I love you", Thompson said to Keith. "Will you be my wife, please?"

Although he was taken aback when he learned of Thompson's proposal request, Anderson said something good might arise from the instance. I don't want them to make the same mistakes I've made'.

Thompson told CNN he's exhausted of running and plans to turn his life around.

Thompson's new fiancé bailed him out of jail the next day. Like I love him a lot. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 17. She thanked police for allowing her boyfriend to propose - calling them "amazing". We all want to see someone get their life on track. "And if by letting him take a moment before going to jail to do what he did, then we did our jobs". "We care about the city we serve and the people in it", said Anderson. "Sometimes the smallest gesture of kindness is the biggest influence in someone's life".
