Lakers Rumors: Los Angeles Considering Adding PGs Rajon Rondo Or Tyler Ennis

Detroit Pistons' Kentavious Caldwell Pope takes a shot against the Orlando Magic during the first half of an NBA basketball game in Orlando Fla. A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press Tuesday nig

With the Bradley acquisition, things didn't come down to that and the Pistons gained financial flexibility as well as roster flexibility to play some of their younger players.

The Lakers have also reportedly been interested in free agent point guard Rajon Rondo this off-season as well.

But, it seems as though the Lakers aren't done making moves this offseason, and they're attacking free agency with a full head of steam.

Caldwell-Pope met with the Lakers on Tuesday, reports Brian Windhorst of ESPN. Do they need to sign a veteran such as Rondo to help tutor Ball?

While Rondo's numbers were down last season, a large part of that was due to the Bulls opting to cut his minutes down as well. In four seasons with the Pistons, he averaged 11.7 points in 314 games. It's a risk, as with any gamble, because next year's market looks to be even tighter than this market was, which was already significantly less player-friendly than last year's. It'll make life easier on the rookie and coach Luke Walton. Or would Ennis be a better fit as the third guard with Clarkson taking over as the backup point guard and someone such as David Nwaba or Josh Hart is the backup shooting guard?

To put it gently, the addition of Rondo, or another point guard, nearly qualifies as a must for the Lakers.

The Lakers have finally made a splash in free agency.

This one's a bit tougher to gauge. Los Angeles had increased their push for the 24-year-old after the Pistons made him an unrestricted free agent a few days ago following the acquisition of Avery Bradley from the Boston Celtics.

Like Clarkson, Pope has spent his first few seasons in the National Basketball Association playing for a team that lacked the talent and assets to be a playoff contender.

Caldwell-Pope will miss the first two games of the 2017-18 season after the National Basketball Association suspended him last month following his guilty plea to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated in Auburn Hills, Mich. Regardless, Caldwell-Pope would be an excellent addition both for scoring with the second unit and also for his defense.

The Lakers now have $17 million in cap space but can get to $18.3 million in space.

The other option is the Lakers who would like to have KCP on a big one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
