Liverpool target Naby Keita '100% sure' to stay at Leipzig - Hasenhuttl

Liverpool FC midfielder Philippe Coutinho reacts during the Premier League Asia Trophy match between Liverpool FC and Leicester City FC at Hong Kong Stadium on July 22 2017 in Hong Kong

Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl hinted that a move could be explored next summer, but that Keita would be staying for the next 12 months.

The report claims that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was desperate to bring the player to Anfield ahead of the new season as he believed Keita would add quality to the midfielder.

RB Leipzig chief Ralf Rangnick has attempted to clarify criticism of Naby Keita's camp. "To play Champions League for Naby Keita is a great thing".

Speaking following Liverpool's recent pre-season victory over Hertha Berlin Klopp joked with Sky Deutschland: 'Our next offer for Keita is €300m!'

Asked after Leipzig's 1-0 loss to Sevilla at the Emirates Cup on Saturday whether there was still a chance the club's stance could soften, Hasenhuttl said: "The chance is zero". It is 100 per cent clear that Naby will play this year with Leipzig.

"At the beginning of the transfer period that we said we would start with the same team and of the players we had past year no-one will go".

The 22-year-old was one of the Bundesliga's top breakout performers last season, playing a pivotal role in Leipzig's impressive debut campaign.

It remains to be seen how Rangnick's latest comments affect his relationship with Keita, who many expect to leave the east German city next summer at the very latest when his £48m release clause comes into effect.

Naby Keita made 123 defensive actions in the Bundesliga last season.

'These are our two most important players on our team so it's sure he will be with our team next year'. "Then we'll have a look", he said.

"Liverpool will finish their transfer activities and that's ok with me".

"Until next summer we keep it [the door] closed".

Asked whether Keita has been affected by the speculation linking him with a summer move to Liverpool, he added: "He is even more focused on us and has more fun now than past year".
