Partial lunar eclipse to occur over the Arab world on Monday

Get ready to witness the lunar eclipse on August 7.

The astronomical phenomenon will be visible if the skies are not covered by clouds. However, as the three celestial bodies are not perfectly aligned, only part of the moon's surface is covered by the central part of the Earth's shadow. The best conditions for observing the eclipse will be in eastern Latvia where the sun will be setting a bit sooner.

No two lunar eclipses are ever quite the same, and although some dismiss them as of less interest than solar eclipses - particularly total solar eclipses, where the events centered on totality occur rapidly, in contrast with more stately progress of a lunar eclipse - they are fascinating to observe. The upcoming partial eclipse of the Moon will be visible from all places of India.

The eclipse begins when the moon enters penumbra at 11:50 p.m, Monday, and ends at 4:51 a.m., Tuesday.

The moon could often take on a dark red hue during a total lunar eclipse.

The lunar eclipse will be visible from parts of Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, and peaks 2:20 p.m. EDT (1820 GMT).

The space circuit in India is buzzing with excitement and anticipation ever since word about the lunar eclipse spread.

Unlike the Great American Eclipse, where safety precautions are needed for skygazers hoping to watch the event as it happens, there are no such safeguards needed for those who want to catch Monday's partial lunar eclipse, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
