Scaramucci: Bannon's 'toleration' of white nationalism is 'inexcusable'

"I'm not trying to build my own brand" on the president's coattails", he added.

STEPHANOPOULOS: They include Steve Bannon?

"Can you and Steve Bannon still work together in this White House or not?"

"I wouldn't have given that statement", Scaramucci told Stephanopoulos.

Earlier in the day Axios.com portal reported, citing sources close to the president, that US President Donald Trump allegedly suspected that his Chief Strategist Steve Bannon was the one behind the leaks about the latter's White House colleagues.

But Kelly's rise to White House chief of staff - he was given the role last month when former chief of staff Reince Priebus resigned - has reignited the churn of speculation as Kelly looks at revamping the press and communications team. "If the president really wants to execute that legislative agenda that I think is so promising for the American people, the lower-middle class people and the middle class people, then he has to move away from that sort of Bannon-bart nonsense".

"I believe that everyone who works in the White House who has the privilege, the great privilege every day of serving their nation should be motivated by that goal", he said.

"I get to work together with a broad range of talented people", McMaster said.

Scaramucci's appearance Sunday on ABC's "This Week" marked his first interview since his brief tenure as communications director ended abruptly about two weeks ago.

"My feeling about the whole thing is that what happened was sort of meant to happen", he said.

Scaramucci also failed to elaborate on these "moderates and independents", who he claimed would support the President's legislative agenda if the "micro Bannonbart" group was ostracised.

The "alt-right", though once a term used to describe millennial and hipster conservatives, is now reserved for white nationalist groups and websites. "And if he doesn't do that, you're going to see inertia and you're going to see this resistance from more of the establishment senators that he needs to curry favour with". It's not serving the president's interests. "The president's going to do what he wants to do, how he wants to do it".

"I believe he needed to be much harsher as it related to the white supremacism and nature of that", he declared, adding that the "moral authority of the presidency" demands that the one holding that office "call that stuff out". On Saturday, the president had blamed "many sides".

"I like Steve, but you have to remember he was not involved in my campaign until very late", Trump told the New York Post in April.
