Neymar: Barcelona suing Brazilian star after move to Paris Saint-Germain

Neymar is having the right start…will he even get better?

Barcelona are suing former player Neymar for 8.5m euros (£7.8m) over his world record move to Paris St-Germain.

They are also demanding a return of a loyalty bonus given to Neymar when he signed a contract extension last October "as he has not completed his contract".

"Barcelona have taken these actions in defense of their interests after Neymar's contract was rescinded just a few months after he signed on until 2021", the club's statement said.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Barca said they had passed the complaint on to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), having first filed the lawsuit in a Barcelona court on August 11.

"Paris Saint-Germain reiterates that, like Neymar Jr., it has always respected all applicable laws and rules in its dealings and, once again, regrets the attitude of FC Barcelona".

Neymar's transfer was confirmed on August 3, but a Barcelona spokesman said the club would not pay his father the bonus, and they are now looking to be repaid a bonus they paid the player previous year.

"I do have something to say: That I am disappointed with them [the Barca directors]", Neymar said after PSG's win over Toulouse on Sunday.

"I spent four handsome years there and parted happy".

"The club also requests Paris Saint-Germain take on responsibility for the payment of these fees if the player can not do so himself".

The Brazil worldwide made the move to the French club after they met his buyout clause earlier this month.

"At the start, I was happy".

"I feel very happy and relaxed, I feel at home".

Neymar meanwhile made a stellar start to life in Paris, scoring twice as they thrashed Toulouse 6-2 to stay top of Ligue 1 on goal difference. "Barcelona deserves more and everyone knows it". "I have a lot of friends there, I hope things get better for Barca and that they go back to being a team that can compete".
