Brock Osweiler says first day back with Broncos 'incredible'

Brock Osweiler

Osweiler signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Texans to leave Denver.

All of this eventually led to him being let go by the Browns last week after the team made a decision to go with rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer as the starter for the season opener.

Osweiler signed a one-year deal with the Broncos Monday after being released by the Browns three days earlier, per Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post.

One of the most common comments about Brock Osweiler through his stints with Arizona State, the Denver Broncos, the Houston Texans, the Cleveland Browns and now the Broncos again is that he's tall. Osweiler, who sat out the Browns' final two preseason games, was healthy all throughout training camp. With Cleveland already locked in to pay Osweiler's $16 million salary, the Broncos will absorb a minor chunk of that king's ransom by signing the 26-year-old passer to the league minimum, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport was told.

"I'm sure it's been a tough one for him", Elway said.

The Broncos had hoped to find a backup with knowledge of offensive coordinator Mike McCoy's playbook. There were many among the Broncos' faithful who, because of Lynch's injury, had hoped the team would pick Sloter to be the backup quarterback to start the season.

Siemian and Osweiler don't need an introduction, given Siemian was a rookie No. 3 quarterback behind Peyton Manning and Osweiler in the Super Bowl season of 2015.

Scenery matters. It didn't work out for Osweiler in Houston a year ago. We have confidence in that, and feel like if something were to happen that Brock has the experience.

"We'll have a package for Brock if he has to go into a football game", Head Coach Vance Joseph said. Osweiler said Monday that not only was he ecstatic to be back with the Broncos, but that he fully understands his role this time around.

Why would the Broncos open up their arms to the distraction of Kaepernick when there is no guarantee he even helps them win? "So, we were able to get it fixed". And then I know I've thanked [President of Football Operations/General Manager] John [Elway] up and down.
