Cowboy Bebop Director Helming Blade Runner 2049 Anime Short

Johnnie Walker Black Label The Director's Cut

Blade Runner 2049 has all the things audiences love: sci-fi nerdiness, references to the original film, Harrison Ford and - most importantly - Ryan Gosling. Plus, electronic mastermind Flying Lotus will be in charge of the score. And now we have 2048: Nowhere to Run, the second of three shorts, this time showcasing Dave Bautista's replicant character Sapper.

The film will be released on Sony Pictures Japan's YouTube channel on September 26 and is apparently one of several projects slated as preludes to Blade Runner 2049.

"Like many fans, I remember the Johnnie Walker bottle from the first film, so it was a unique privilege to collaborate with Johnnie Walker on designing a totally original, custom bottle for the new movie", said Villeneuve in a prepared statement.

Shinichirō Watanabe, the director of beloved anime Cowboy Bebop, is set to direct Blade Runner 2022 Black Out-an animated prequel for the upcoming Denis Villeneuve live-action Blade Runner 2049. Watanabe's goal in making the short movie is to pay a respectful homage to Blade Runner, while not creating an "imitation".

Cygames Pictures also released a really cool video showing samples of some of the artwork and previews of the animation for the film.

49% ABV both for added intensity and as a nod to the futuristic period in which Blade Runner 2049 is set. It's precisely these qualities that got him the Ridley Scott seal-of-approval to continue the Blade Runner story.

The footage starts out with Watanabe discussing how pivotal Scott's film was in his development as a writer and director: "The work that has influenced me the most in my anime profession would be, of course, Blade Runner". "The new Blade Runner is an extension of the first movie a few decades later".
