Trevor Noah wants to know when Black people can actually protest

Trevor Noah Says He Won't Be Shocked If Donald Trump Gets A Second Term

Thankfully no late night shows were on hiatus - because across the board hosts really took him to task!

"For the a year ago some National Football League players have been kneeling to protest institutional racism", Colbert explained. It was a controversial protest, Colbert acknowledged, explaining the singing of the national anthem at NFL games is a sacred time when Americans rush to the toilet because that's when the line is shortest. "You do realize the civil rights activists weren't sitting at the lunch counter for better grilled cheese".

"Don't be shocked if Donald Trump gets a second term", Noah said at one point.

Spotting contradictions in Trump's political discourse is easy, probably only marginally easier than getting a late night chat show audience to boo the president. "So in my opinion, this has everything to do with race".

Noah concluded that because Trump called out Kaepernick "in a way that he never did to the Nazis in Charlottesville" that this had "everything to do with race". Sure, that sounds like a member of the Trump administration fundamentally misunderstanding the First Amendment, but Noah reasoned that maybe the objection is just to black people protesting in the workplace? "But then when black football players protest peacefully by taking a knee during the national anthem, he calls them 'sons of bitches, ' who should be fired".

Noah summarized the news by saying he didn't know "if Trump is racist". "And I'm going to say a Confederate flag". "That's the kind of shit they would do if they were trying to disrespect the country". Saying that kneeling is a protest against the flag is like saying Ghandi's hunger strikes were a protest against snacking.

The entire ordeal recalls a question Noah has asked multiple times on his show: when and how is it appropriate for black people to protest?

"Unless you're ESPN commentator Jemele Hill, criticizing the president on your private Twitter feed, then that is a fireable offense too", Noah said, referencing an earlier Trump controversy.
