Mobile Phone Service Blocked Partially In Cities Across Pakistan On Muharram 8,9,10

Stern security arrangements have been ensured across the country on the occasion of 9th Muharram today (Saturday).

In the past the service mostly remained suspended for security reasons on the ninth and 10th of the holy month.

Sindh home minister Anwar Siyal said mobile phone services would be shut down totally in Karachi and some parts of the province on Saturday and Sunday from morning to night on the recommendation of paramilitary rangers and police.

Cellular and internet services remained suspended in Karachi, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Haripur, DI Khan and Lakki Marwat, among other areas. In order to maintain security in various cities across the country, the Ministry of Interior has sent the recommendations for suspension of mobile phone service and pillion riding.

The traffic police of Karachi the largest city of Pakistan has announced alternate routes and traffic arrangements for the next two days. M. A. Jinnah Road has been divided into 23 sub-sectors, whereas all 287 entry points to M. A. Jinnah Road, including the shops on the route have been sealed.

Processions and majalis across the country for the 10th of Muharram to commemorate the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his family concluded peacefully across the country.

The main Ashura procession in Karachi began from Nishtar Park with a Majlis (address) by Allama Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi.
