Sri Lanka didn't enforce the follow on the third day of second Test at Dubai even after Pakistan was all out for 262 runs in reply to Sri Lanka's first innings score of 482.

Earlier, paceman Wahab Riaz grabbed 4-41 and left-arm spinner Haris Sohail took three wickets in a single over to dismiss Sri Lanka for 96 in their second innings after they resumed on 5-34. Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed had stuck on for Pakistan in the final session of the penultimate day of the Test.

Sarfraz's innings of 68 came off 130 balls and included five boundaries.

This squares off a 2-0 series win for Sri Lanka having defeated Pakistan by 21 runs.

Pakistan, needing another 255 runs to win, face their first series defeat in United Arab Emirates since adopting it as their home venue in 2009. Last night, it was a little hard to bowl, especially with the dew (but) we knew when we come today, it will grip more.

The defeat allowed Sri Lanka to replace Pakistan at No. 6 in Test rankings, pushing their opponents to seventh. "If they provide a positive feedback, we will send a representative to assess the situation again before making a final decision", SLC CEO Ashley de Silva told the Sunday Times.

"As a captain I am looking for commitment, attitude and discipline from the players", he said. "We are looking forward to doing well in the up and coming series as well".

Perera finished with 5-98, his fifth five wicket haul, a performance Chandimal said was also praiseworthy.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah dismissed Perera for nought to leave Sri Lanka in danger of being all out for their lowest ever total - they were skittled for just 71 against Pakistan in 1994. He took five-fers in each of three Tests in the Caribbean earlier this year as well in both matches this series.

After the Test series whitewash, Pakistan will play Sri Lanka in five ODIs. "I got to learn a lot as captain", said Ahmed. "We'll do better in the future".

Australia captain Steve Smith will return home from the tour of India due to a shoulder injury, Cricket Australia announced just hours before the opener of a three-match Twenty20 series against the hosts on Saturday. But this morning, we had more than 120 runs to defend, so we all knew that in this session the ball will grip, as we have two experienced spinners in Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera.
