La David Johnson, one of four US soldiers killed in Niger, took place on Saturday, his tragic death politicized by the president, who continues to feud with a Congresswoman who was close to the family.

The pregnant widow of a fallen USA soldier whose combat death led to a political fight between Donald Trump and a Florida representative says the phone call from the president left her angry and crying. Trump wrote on Twitter, referencing one of the Green Berets killed earlier this month in an ambush in Niger. Republicans nix idea of pairing repeal with tax reform Fla. lawmaker warned officials before retirement home tragedy Florida Dem: "Abomination" that seniors were left at nursing home where 8 died MORE's (D-Fla.) description of the call.

"The president said that he knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyways".

Wilson, who was present for the speaker phone conversation, recalled that Trump said "he knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurts anyway". "The only way he could remember my husband's name was he told me he had my husband's report in front of him and that's when he actually said La David".

She said she was present during the call and stood by Ms Wilson's account of what was said.

He has dismissed the account of the phone call given by Ms Wilson as "totally fabricated".

Trump's tweet will do little to shut down a controversy that has swirled around the president since last week. And that's what made me upset and made me cry even more - because he was an awesome soldier'.

QUESTION: What do you say about her comment that he did not know - and the wife, the widow, said that the president did not know his name; he kept saying "your guy", "your guy"?

Sgt Johnson's mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, told the Washington Post that Mr Trump "did disrespect my son".

He said: 'It stuns me that a member of congress would have listened in on that conversation.

"I need to see him so I will know that that is my husband".

Asked what she might now say to Trump, Johnson said she had "nothing to say to him". In a letter to Congress in June, President Trump confirmed there were 645 military personnel deployed there to support counter-terrorism missions. Not only does he owe me an apology but he owes an apology to the American people, because when he lied on me he lied to them, and I don't think that's fair, and I think that's wrong. Johnson said she wants the world to know "how great of a soldier my husband was".
