IDF downs Syrian spy drone over Golan Heights, Israel says

As Israel snubs Syrian ceasefire terms Russia insists Iranian presence ‘legitimate

Today, the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel officially requested a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to assess the situation in the Golan Heights in light of recent events. "So I am proud to announce tonight that a few hours ago I directed that we offer the Red Cross medical assistance for the Iraqi and Iranian victims of this disaster", Netanyahu told the Jewish Federations of North America's annual General Assembly in Los Angeles.

The narrative of Iran even wanting a "permanent" presence in Syria seems to be more or less wholly an Israeli creation, based on reports of building at a Syrian military facility somehow being extrapolated to it being an "Iranian base".

The letter came a day after American officials said that U.S. has been arming Iranian-linked militia and anti-Daesh envoy appointed during former U.S. President Barack Obama's tenure, Brett McGurk played a significant role in it.

During the visit, the analyst anticipated that "Israeli officials will likely push the United States for further, more comprehensive action to counter Iran and Hizbollah" and "will be looking at ways of disrupting Hizbollah's capabilities in the region short of causing a major war - probably through a stepped-up air campaign against missile facilities".

The Iranian government is scrambling to get aid to the worst-hit Kermanshah province, where hundreds of homes were destroyed, according to the BBC.

In Iran, rescue efforts were hindered by landslides in the mountainous border region. Within seconds the quake reduced dozens of towns and almost 2,000 villages to rubble.

Iran also rejected an Israeli offer of aid following a quake in the historic city of Bam in 2003 which killed 26,000 people. "We stand shoulder to shoulder with countries of the moderate camp in the Arab world, in the face of radical Islam, no matter where it comes from, be it Iran, the Islamic State (in Iraq and Syria) group or elsewhere", he said, without naming the countries.
