Microsoft Office FINALLY Available For ALL Chromebook Users

Download

With Chromebook proving very popular with schools, the availability of Office is big news.

The Chromebook-wide release of Office was first noticed by Chrome Unboxed, who had been eagerly awaiting this day. At the moment, not all Chromebooks can access the Google Play Store, which essentially means that some users of these gadgets are still unable to enjoy the new Microsoft apps.

After being only available on select models including the Google Pixelbook and the Asus Chromebook Flip, it seems that Microsoft's Office Android apps can now be downloaded on a broader selection of Chromebooks.

If you recall, Google announced past year that Android app support would be released for ChromeOS. Now, without announcement from the company, this changes.

Want more posts like this delivered to your inbox? That left some to wonder if the apps' arrival was still forthcoming, while others explored workarounds.

The Microsoft of old used its globe-dominating Office suite as a way to keep people in its ecosystem, producing only versions for Windows and Apple's Macintosh. Also, it was frustrating for some Chromebook users as sometimes the apps would show up, but soon disappear without warning, notes Android Authority. An Office 365 subscription is also another requirement, otherwise, you won't be able to get your hands on these apps.

The move is significant Chromebooks are primarily - in the USA at least - used by a majority of the K-12 students, meaning without Office it is easier for many to simply use Google Apps. Microsoft has been working to make the Android version available to all Chrome OS users, and it appears they have succeeded.

Therefore, Chromebook users have been waiting for support for Microsoft Office since a long time. As of now, there is no comment from Google and Microsoft over the development.
