White House: Trump won't campaign for Roy Moore

AP: Trump Won't Campaign For Moore

Before leaving for Mar-a-Lago last week, Trump told reporters, "I'll be letting you know next week" about campaigning for Moore before Alabama's Dec.12 special election.

President Donald Trump doesn't plan to campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore in Alabama, a White House official said Monday.

White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters told The Hill that "there is nothing on his schedule at this time" as far as a Trump campaign stop for Moore.

Mr Trump attacked Mr Moore's Democratic opponent on Sunday.

For weeks, accusations that Moore, now 70, sexually molested or assaulted two teens, ages 14 and 16 - and tried to date several others - while he was in his 30s have taken center stage in the heated Alabama race. "Wilson added. "'Well I know he's a cannibal, but at least he's not a Democrat' is the kind of thing that's going to wear thin outside of the narrow partisan lane Alabama represents". Moore denied the allegations and claimed the story was planted by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

President Donald Trump has questioned the authenticity of the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape in which he bragged about being able to grope women, The New York Times reported over the weekend, despite the fact that Trump immediately apologized for his remarks when the video surfaced. Trump said Jones would be "bad" for the senate because he is soft on crime.

Trump's words could be a boost to the Moore camp, since Democrats' hopes in the race partly depend upon peeling away Republican support from Moore in the deeply red state.
