Hand Over the Wu-Tang Album

Former drug company executive Martin Shkreli exits U.S. District Court after being convicted of securities fraud in the Brooklyn borough of New York City U.S

Reviled "Pharma Bro" and securities fraudster Martin Shkreli may have to part with some serious cash-or prized possessions-after U.S. Attorney Bridget M. Rhode requested the courts impose a forfeiture of more than $7.3 million on the shameful son of Sheepshead Bay. In a court filing today, the US government is seeking $7.4 million of Shkreli's assets in total, including a Picasso painting and a World War II Enigma machine.

According to reports, prosecutors said on Friday (December 1) that Shkreli should forfeit $7.4 million (£5.48m), which could include $5 million (£3.7m) in bail money as well as his Wu-Tang album, which he bought for $2 million (£1.48m). The LP has now been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most expensive album in existence.

The album cannot be commercially released until 2103, although it can be released for free or played during listening parties.

Shkreli's lawyer Ben Brafman was not immediately available to comment on the government filing.

Meanwhile, Wu-Tang leader RZA recently said that he "will always respect" Shkreli for "making history" by purchasing the Wu-Tang Clan album. "I didn't agree with the eBay thing, but when I read his paragraph on why he did it, I kind of respected and understood what he said". I thought that would be the most lovely thing that could happen to it.

He was previously CEO of the biotechnology firm Retrophin and of his own firm Turing Pharmaceuticals with a net worth of around $70 million (£52m) in June of this year.

Notorious Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli is now locked up, awaiting sentencing on three felony accounts of security fraud.
