National Football League suspends Thomas Davis for two games

Thomas Davis Suspended Two Games For Teeing Off At Davante Adams's Head

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams took to social media to vent his frustration on Monday on the heels of the blindside hit he received from Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis. Suspended two games for another jarring, helmet-to-helmet hit on Adams, Trevathan appealed his ban down to just one game.

Davis also was fined earlier in the year for a hit against Chicago that he appealed, so he was considered a repeat offender.

The Carolina Panthers may be without their star linebacker Thomas Davis for the next two games.

Davis tried an apology in a reply tweet to Adams, owning up making a mistake.

NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan cited Davis' previous offense as a reason for the two-game suspension. Panthers coach Ron Rivera said earlier Monday, however, that he did not think Davis meant to hit Adams in the head.

Later Sunday, Adams lashed out at Davis on Twitter. In no way was I trying to hurt you.

Adams suffered a concussion on the play and took to social media Monday criticizing Davis. The emphasis right there was when you get an interception, you're really trying to set the wall.

Davis will be eligible to return to the Panthers' active roster on January 1, following the team's December 31 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
