Dana White reveals likely time frame for McGregor's UFC return

If Georges St-Pierre fights again, Dana White says it won't be against Conor McGregor

A timeframe for McGregor's return to the UFC is now unknown, and White has acknowledged on several occasions that the lightweight division needs to move forward.

And it looks like we will have to wait some time before we see McGregor back in the Octagon as UFC President Dana White has revealed his plans for the organisation's UFC lightweight champion and undisputed pay-per-view king.

"He needs to defend that title".

Dana White hopes Conor McGregor will return to UFC by summer. McGregor's optimal fight weight is arguably 155 pounds.

White was wearing Zuffa Boxing shirts on the press tour for the boxing super fight between McGregor and Mayweather and has been a boxing fan for decades.

White's closing question seems absurd when you consider the facts.

But White dismissed those concerns and also insisted a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz was not on the cards.

In November 2016, McGregor knocked out new champion Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt and was forced to give up his featherweight title shortly after.

Instead, White says he's looking to put together boxing superfights (in addition to his UFC duties) involving some of the best pugilists in the world. starting with heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua. "He fought everybody on his way up 145 pounds".

The undefeated boxer retired in August after defeating McGregor and has previously shot down rumors he was interested, but White said he has a meeting with Mayweather's team about a potential fight.

Prior to winning the UFC's featherweight championship, McGregor worked his way up the ladder like any other contender. He fought [Chad] Mendes, [Dustin] Poirier.

So, ya. It's not surprising to see that White might be miffed at GSP, but to shoot down a bout with McGregor?

"It wasn't Conor's fault [dos Anjos] got hurt. And after the fight, every fighter in the UFC gave him props for representing the sport".
