U.S. envoy calls for emergency United Nations session on Iran

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley indicated on Tuesday that continued Palestinian refusal to meet with American envoys and return to peace talks with Israel could cost them a loss of aid, the Times of Israel reported. "All freedom-loving people must stand with their cause", Nikki Haley told reporters at the UN's NY headquarters.

The US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, made the horror statement today in NY. "The freedoms that are enshrined in the United Nations charter are under attack in Iran", she said. "Dozens have already been killed. Hundreds have been arrested", she said.

"We all know that's complete nonsense", she said at a news conference.

"Moon wants to host a peaceful 2018 Winter Olympic Games, as well as open direct dialogue with his neighbour", Scott Snyder, senior fellow for Korea studies and director of the programme on US-Korea policy at the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations, said in an opinion piece written for The Atlantic.

Haley also emphasized that withholding aid is not connected to Pakistan's vote in the U.N. General Assembly stating its opposition to the USA recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

"The Palestinians now have to show their will that they want to come to the table".

"The global community failed to do that in 2009", she added, referring to Iran's Green Revolution.

"It takes great bravery for the Iranian people to use the power of their voice against the government, especially when their government has a long history of murdering its own people who dare to speak the truth".

Haley is known for not mincing words and took yet another bold stance against the global governing body Tuesday, with specific references to the recent protests in Iran.

Trump added more fuel to the fire on Twitter by saying that the USA pays "hundreds of millions dollars a year" to the Palestinians and that Jerusalem, "the toughest part of the negotiation", is "off the table".

The law would require a vote of two-thirds of the Knesset (Israel's parliament) in order to sanction a division of Jerusalem in any future peace agreement with the Palestinians.

Haley also spoke briefly about North Korea, calling United Nations resolutions "a great achievement" but emphasizing that work remains to ensure those resolutions are enforced. "We will never accept a nuclear North Korea".
