New leak shows off the Sony Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra, and L2

Xperia XA2

Earlier this week, Sony Xperia L2 and XA2 image renders were made public. Let's check them out together.

According to Evan the phones will switch from a Mediatek processor to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, with the XA2 coming with 3GB RAM/32GB Storage, while the XA2 Ultra will have 4GB/6GB.

Either way, despite a broad palette of color options, the Sony Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra and Xperia L2 look anything but eye-catching, with thick "chins" and "foreheads", rather bland backplates, and plastic still seemingly running the build material show.

The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra, on the other hand, will reportedly retain its predecessor's 6-inch 1080p display. The smartphone will come with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with the screen resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels. The Xperia XA2 also gets refreshed imaging components with 21MP, 4K-capable rear camera and 7MP selfie shooter. As for the XA2 Ultra, the smartphone may have the same rear camera along with dual 15MP front-facing cameras, which too may be able to record 4K videos.

From the renders, it's hard to make heads-or-tails of the dual front-facing selfie shooters.

While its upcoming bezel-starved flagships might be more exciting, Sony is also preparing to launch a bunch of new mid-rangers in the next few weeks, either at CES or at MWC. As we mentioned above already, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. Both the smartphones will ship the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. The Xperia L2 does not seem to have a dedicated camera button, but apart from that, rest of the design largely remains the same. This is expected to be paired with 4 gigabytes (GB) of random access memory (RAM) and 64 GB of available system storage, with micro Secure Digital (mSD) expansion slots to boot. The phone might run on an older Android Nougat.
