Official PlayStation Totaku figures are like Amiibo without the NFC

Sony Is Getting Their Own Collectible Figurines with Totaku

As revealed on GameStop's website and the video below from the Spanish branch of retailer Game, at least seven different figures are coming in March as part of a new Totaku Collection line.

In both the United States and Spain, the figures will be available on March 23. If you're a hardcore PlayStation gamer (a Sony Pony?) you're going to want to prove your loyalty to the company by snatching up the whole line. The initial batch of Totaku figures includes Parappa the Rapper, Sackboy, Crash Bandicoot, The Hunter from Bloodborne, Wipeout's Feisar FX350, and Tekken 7's Heihachi Mishima.

For those of us living in the United States, GameStop has the figures up for pre-order right now.

I alluded to the figures being like Nintendo's Amiibo at the top of this post, but that isn't entirely the case here.

There is no reason to own the Totaku figures beyond actually liking the characters.

The figures are not created by Sony themselves, and they definitely don't work the same way Nintendo's amiibo or Activision's Skylanders do. The figurines are fixed to their stand and non-articulable, so they're collectibles only.

Each figure measures about four inches (10 centimeters) tall and will be priced at $9.99. In the U.S., they're priced at $10 a pop and will be available exclusively through GameStop and Think Geek. In the USA, it looks as though GameStop will be the only place to grab them.
