Karni Sena ends agitation against Padmaavat?

Most theatre owners in Guj have decided against screening 'Padmaavat': Dy CM

On Thursday, the apex court had also quashed the review petitions filed by Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan governments against release of Padmaavat's release in their respective states.

Shree Rajput Karni Sena, which has been leading protests against "Padmaavat", on Tuesday named a six member panel comprising erstwhile royals and historians to watch the film ahead of its release even as fringe outfits demanded an ordinance banning the movie. "The government is trying its best to maintain law and order in the state", Patel told reporters in Gandhinagar.

Meanwhile, Gujarat minister of state for home Pradeepsinh Jadeja promised action against those guilty of the violence."The situation deteriorated after some of the protesters, who took part in the candle march against the movie at S G Highway, reached these malls", Jadeja said.

The first to be targeted was Gulmohar, which saw some stone pelting before the mobs moved to Acropolis Mall where they set fire to over 15 vehicles parked outside.

In the meantime, the Karni Sena too has moved the top court seeking a relook at the January 18 order by which the top court had paved the way for the film's countrywide release.

"Following imposition of Section 144, there is prohibition on presence of people carrying firearms and other articles capable of causing injury, raising slogans and exhibiting placards within 200 meters radius of the cinema halls and multiplexes from January 23 to January 28", Singh said.

From 5 cuts to the change in the title to Deepika's midriff getting covered in the "Ghoomar" song, Bhansali has compromised on a whole lot for the movie to get released without any hassles.

Sikh leader Jaljitsinh Dhhilon said, "If whatever Rajputs are saying is true and their feelings are hurt, we are with them".

Over 35 supporters of Karni Sena, protesting against "Padmaavat" detained in Mumbai: Police official. "We are free to take our own decision and will protest against the screening of the film".
