Rain, sleet and snow are forecast for much of next week as children break up from school for half term

After the week the snow caused chaos in Cornwall, the Met Office has issued another ice warning.

"A covering of snow as we begin Sunday across the higher grounds of the north of England and central and southern Scotland". Frost and icy patches will develop also.

The biting polar winds could see temperatures plunge as low as -8C, with up to five centimetres of snow expected to settle in some areas.

It will be very cold tonight as the snow moves in from the west, with frost and icy patches set to develop.

Frosty and snowy showers will give predicted accumulation of 3 cm of snow, with a larger amount of snowfall expected on mountainous areas and on higher ground.

Saturday night will be windy, with wintry showers developing overnight.
