You'll soon know when someone screenshots your Instagram story

Instagram will Now Notify Screenshot Alerts

Instagram is reportedly working on a new feature that will warn you if someone takes a screenshot of your story.

Users are not happy, with some tweeting that people now have to "creep wisely".

A logo that looks like a buffering symbol will appear next to the Instagram user's name who took a screen shot. Instagram is likely testing how people respond to the new notices and may decide to never rollout the feature to all users, or perhaps change its behavior. Under the story, users can see a small flash icon to show who has taken a screenshot. People screenshotted at will because it wasn't traceable. A lovely soul took a screenshot of the notification and shared it online, which you can see below. No wonder, users often take to recording the same of creating screenshots of it to preserve it longer.

And, hey, if Instagram did implement screenshot notifications for Stories, it would be yet another feature the company has borrowed from Snapchat. If you thought this was the end of it then you're wrong.

When a device is on airplane mode, it disable any WiFi or Bluetooth signals from being transmitted. Instagram will be adding this feature to the "ephermal part" of its platform, Stories.

Both Mac and Windows computers have screenshot functions.

The feature has been rolled out only to limited users. Another workaround is for users to download Stories directly from the web version of Instagram. But taking a screenshot of someone's picture, story, or video and texting it to your friend is also a fabulous way to gossip in the internet age. You won't receive a notification or direct message-you'll have to check it manually every time.
