Israel ready to act against 'dangerous' Iran, Netanyahu warns

Moscow dismisses claims Iran launched drone inside Israel

Zarif, addressing the audience later Sunday, said Netanyahu's "cartoonish circus" didn't "deserve the dignity of a response". "He claims Iran is fighting extremism, and he argues the conflict in the Middle East won't be resolved by a military solution", Netanyahu said. "You should, it's yours".

Holding what appeared to be a panel of the Iranian drone shot down last week amid tensions between the two powers, the Israeli leader asked Javad Zarif, the Iranian foreign minister: "Do you recognise it?"

"The sanctions relief that the deal provided has not moderated Iran".

Kerry dismissed Netanyahu's assertion that Iran would be on its way to having a nuclear arsenal in 10 years. Donald Trump, the USA president, has frequently called the Iran nuclear deal a bad one.

"This is another false allegation against the prime minister", a spokesman for Netanyahu said. "Through its proxies, Shia militias in Iraq, the Houthis in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza; Iran is devouring huge swathes of the Middle East", the prime minister warned.

Israel feels increasingly abandoned as regional partners prioritise their often conflicting interests in Syria's seven-year civil war, now that a common enemy - Islamic State - is largely defeated.

But Israel responded with a raid on what it said was the craft's Syria-based Iranian control system.

Netanyahu said there were "striking similarities" between the Iran leadership and Nazi Germany, saying that Tehran wants to destroy Israel.

"I believe it is absolutely critical for Europe, for the world, to make sure we hold on to this agreement, because to go backwards, we know what the world looks like without the Iran nuclear agreement". That could change if Iran establishes a new reality on the ground in Syria, he said. When the sun sets on the agreement, he said, Iran will be given "free rein to enrich uranium without limitations". "There has to be a fundamental change in the Iranian regime for Iran to be treated as a normal country".

The announcement by police does not mean Netanyahu will be charged.

Netanyahu's brandishing of the alleged drone part on Sunday brought to minds his display of a cartoonish diagram of a bomb during his September 2012 address to the United Nations General Assembly to claim that Iran was on the verge of building an atomic warhead.

Lebanon's Defence Minister, Yacoub Riad Sarraf, who spoke after Netanyahu, warned against intervention: "Watch out, we will defend ourselves. we also have friends". "We also have partners, we also have friends, we also have people willing to die for their country".
