Dillon drives 3 back to victory in Daytona 500

Dale Earnhardt Jr. stars in Goodyear’s new TV commercial “Make a Name,” underscoring the power of a name and highlighting the relationship between Goodyear and the NASCAR legend

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and race auto driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. are celebrating their relationship through a new advertisement set to air during the Daytona 500. Dillon led one lap en route to victory driving the famed No. 3.

"Can you believe it?" That day remains memorable to many who witnessed it either at Daytona or watching on TV.

Dillon's net worth is estimated to be around $7.7 million. He was there 20 years ago. I made a decision to remember this as the place where he lost his life.

"I'm really devastated, but ..."

Ever since I was a kid, racing is all I've wanted to do.

"We just had a run and I stayed on the gas". I'm still very excited. That hit me pretty deep.

Austin Dillon ended up in Victory Lane, a changed man, no doubt.

The 27-year-old is the son of former driver and RCR general manager Mike Dillon, older brother of Ty Dillon and grandson of Richard Childress. "But we'll get this Camaro ZL1 dialed in for Atlanta and take it over there". There is no party for the team back then. "We were close to going back-to-back in the Daytona 500, but I don't have anything to show for it". I said to Hammond, 'What's going on anyway? "I know how good T.J.is at the plate tracks", Earnhardt said. "He should do the same thing to me in the same situation". "You just finished second", he told himself.

The win also comes 17 years to the date of Earnhardt Sr.'s fatal accident at Daytona Speedway. It was right there towards the end.

McReynolds: It just seemed like the deeper we got into Speedweeks, the better the vehicle got. "It might be the biggest race and this one is gonna hurt for a while, but I think next week we'll have another shot". It was about finishing, not getting way behind in points. "This place just creates history and I'm proud to be a part of it and make some history here". I realized when it was over that Earnhardt won it. He partially ran through his pit box, and before he could back up, the gas can man started fueling the vehicle. I saw everybody lining up. But I see the comments in my timeline and they are appreciated.

"He said his last Daytona didn't go well, either, and I was like 'Oh wow, I don't remember that". Dillon challenged Almirola and he tried to block the No. 3 Chevy.

"It was the last lap and we're all trying to win the Daytona 500", Almirola said.

Even Dillon knew there was a legend standing with him in victory lane.

Especially for Earnhardt, who recalled how much relief he felt when he first won the Daytona 500 in 2004. Everybody is wanting to congratulate Dale.' For a second, it kind of aggravated me.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. refuses to let the worst memory of his life define his thoughts on the Daytona 500. "If I had to pick one more, probably Kevin Harvick".

"My heart is broken".

Wallace has rocketed to fame in the last month and won new fans following an emotional, post-race scene that included a long, tearful embrace with his mother that symbolized the struggles Wallace has faced on the road to NASCAR's top series. Then he's on his lid just a few laps before the end. It was single file for a lot of that race.

Can Ford make it 8 straight restrictor-plate wins in Sunday's Daytona 500? "I was never that guy". "And I have to thank Darrell Wallace Jr., he did a great job". Of course, Dale was my driver. It was unbelievable that he finally got it. "You will have to beat Kyle Busch to win the championship". I just got caught in a Bermuda Triangle it seemed like when Hamlin blocked us. They're the ones you're looking up to and they reach out to you and that's really cool. He's now married, expecting his first child this spring, and transitioning into jobs outside the race vehicle. His family was diehard Dale Earnhardt Sr. fans. Jimmie Johnson, Erik Jones and Charlotte native William Byron all got collected in it, but Byron was able to continue racing.

Earnhardt watched the race from atop Alex Bowman's pit box.

That set up the two-lap Green/White/Checkers, NASCAR's overtime. "Throw caution to the wind".

"I knew how special this place was to my dad". Me and him were tight.
