Kelly Again Alters White House Description of Porter Departure

Department Of Homeland Security Commemorates 15th Year Anniversary

Kelly also claimed that he and McGahn did not know about the accusations of abuse because the information had only been shared with the security office, but The Washington Post reported that McGahn was informed in September 2017 that Porter's security clearance was delayed because of allegations of domestic violence. Kelly and Sanders claim that office had yet to deliver to senior Trump officials its final ruling when the allegations surfaced on February 6. "That was maybe 7:30 on the sixth of February, about two hours after I found out". I then went to Capitol Hill to have a meeting with - on DACA. But, here's my two-pronged educated guess: 1) He liked Porter and 2) He felt Porter was a useful piece of his grander efforts to manage Trump and the White House.

He contended the White House's Personnel Security Office received an Federal Bureau of Investigation determination last March that, because of the domestic abuse allegations, Porter had been disqualified from getting a clearance.

The White House did not announce Porter was leaving until a press briefing the following afternoon.

"I wish I had worked harder in the six months I had the job to ... not only protect the men and women that get beat up so badly every day but to really advertise in a much more effective way how good you are", Kelly said. President Trump appointed him as the Chief of Staff to replace Reince Priebus at the White House.

For example, Kelly stood by his statement that Porter was "someone of the highest integrity and exemplary character" even after photos of the domestic abuse against Colbie Holderness was made public.

"I never saw him mad or abusive in any way", Kelly said.

He also said that Mr.

He began his remarks on Thursday by telling the crowd, "I miss every one of you, every day".

Still, Kelly said that "we had not reached endgame" in the case and that Porter's security clearance was pending until the abuse charges came to light. Porter to work in the White House with interim security clearance despite the alleged spousal abuse being uncovered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation background check. "At that point in time, I thought [the statement] was accurate of my relationship with Rob Porter", adding, "I put out a statement of support for him, and an hour later find out now there's a second report still not in the press, still no pictures".

The FBI was asked to provide additional findings, which it sent to the White House in November and then again last month. Porter might have seemed great to Kelly, but the allegations made by his ex-wives, which Porter has denied but offered no proof for that denial, are extremely serious.

Mr. Kelly declined to discuss questions that have arisen about security clearances since Mr.
