DUI patrols for St. Patrick's Day planned in Manhattan Beach

Bakersfield Police Department to deploy more officers for St. Patrick's weekend

This new effort is imperative to stop drinking and driving. For this reason, the Long Beach Police Department (L.B.P.D) is spreading the message about the dangers of drunk driving.

"One impaired driver on the road is too many, let alone over 600".

The Bakersfield Police Department will be deploying additional officers on March 17th and March 18th for special DUI saturation patrols.

Police, Sheriff and the CHP will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment.

In recent years, California has seen an increase in drug-impaired driving crashes. "Also, marijuana use can lead to impairment, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs, and can result in a DUI".

Remember, you can be held liable if someone you served alcohol to ends up in an impaired-driving crash. Before you put your keys in the ignition, remind yourself: Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving. "People need to understand that even a single drink can impair your ability to drive and risk the safety of yourself and others - the consequences are simply not worth the risk", said Col. Matthew Packard, CSP Chief, in a news release. Drink responsibly and discourage others from drunk or buzzed driving. Make sure that if you drink, you don't drive and if you drive, don't drink this weekend.

Always keep in mind to plan ahead.

Walking home can also be unsafe if you are impaired, so designated a sober walking buddy.

If you are impaired, don't be afraid to use public transportation or call a taxi, ride-sharing service or friends and family for help getting home.

The cost of a safe ride home is cheap. The app also offers enhanced features, allowing users to search all participating bars and restaurants through out California.

Use the OTS DDVIP app which is free to download, to ensure users can easily order an Uber, Lyft, or Curb. Police will be extra vigilant in detecting and arresting drunk drivers around Chester County.
