Man by the name of Dilpreet Singh Dhahan is claiming to be behind Verma's shooting

Famous Punjabi singer Parmish Verma was shot at by some unidentified persons in sector 91 in Mohali on late Friday night.

Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal reportedly said that they are investigating the matter and scrutinising the CCTV footage. The singer was rushed to a hospital where his condition is said to be stable. A case has reportedly been registered in connection with this incident, police said, adding that investigation was underway.

Dhahan shared two images in the Facebook status, with one image showing the gangster posing with a pistol and the other of thesinger, marked with a red cross, a sign that the gangster had "eliminated" his target.

Coming back to the shooting, reports say that a wanted gangster, Dilpreet, has claimed responsibility for the attack. He uploaded a status on Facebook stating "I, Dilpreet Singh Dhahan, want to tell everyone that I am behind the shooting of Parmish Verma".

Interestingly, the police is yet to take an action on Dhahan for his post, with sources telling Hindustan Times that they would "go according to their own investigation".

Satnam Singh, sarpanch of Khurd village in Hoshiarpur district, was shot dead in broad day light by three assailants outside a gurdwara in Sector 38 (West), Chandigarh, on April 9, 2017.

Verma is likely to be provided police protection following the attack. Police officials are also suggesting that at this preliminary stage, claims of the Nehra group seem stronger.

In the post, the gangster said that Verma had "tried his best to escape, but eventually suffered".
