What to expect from severe weather Sunday in SC

Future Radar Sunday evening showing a line of strong storms moving across the region

Into the weekend, our next storm system and cold front will approach. It will be another mild night with lows in the 60s.

Move away from open doors and windows and move into an interior hallway or room. Highs will peak in the mid 60s under partly cloudy skies with winds of 15-30 miles per hour. Highs both days will be in the 70s.

Temperatures on Monday are expected to climb to only 45 degrees. Windy conditions will persist again throughout the day.

Widespread wind gust between 30 and 40 miles per hour are occurring, even outside of thunderstorms this afternoon. An isolated thunderstorm is not out of the question. Meanwhile the forecast surface map at 8 pm (right panel) shows the cold front with its associated low pressure centers barging eastward across the Appalachian mountains.

We can expect the storm to roll through Central Florida between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Review your severe weather plan and know what you should do if a severe storm or tornado is near you.

"Winds still remain the biggest concern as some stronger storms could produce 40+ miles per hour winds", Prinz said. An isolated tornado is not out of the question.

Locally heavy rain is also possible with 1-2inches of rain.

The line of storms has departed Alabama, bringing our risk of severe weather to a close.

We'll drop into the upper 30s and lower 40s by sunrise Monday.

A pretty quiet week in store once we get through Monday. A warming trend will begin Wednesday and Thursday as temperatures will climb to the upper 70s to near 80.

A very dynamic cold front is pushing east toward the Palmetto State, running into some very warm, humid air. Stay with WALB News 10 for updates as we continue to track these storms. There is a 90% chance for showers and storms today.

Cooler temperatures to end the work week.
