Alabama and Notre Dame to meet in regular season play - FOX10 News

Notre Dame will take on Alabama in South Bend on September 2, 2028 and will travel to Tuscaloosa on September 1, 2029. The affair will play out in Tuscaloosa the year after, with that contest set for September 1, 2029.

Alabama fans will have the opportunity to take a college football road trip of a lifetime when the Crimson Tide travels to South Bend to play Notre Dame.

Barring a future bowl matchup, the game on September 2, 2018 at Notre Dame will be the first meeting between the two teams since the Crimson Tide's 42-14 victory over the Irish in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game.

Alabama and Notre Dame fans are both understandably excited the two schools announced a home-and-home series scheduled for 2028 and 2029.

"It doesn't get more tradition-rich than Alabama and Notre Dame when it comes to college football", Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne said. "We are thrilled to join Alabama in making sure that continues to happen".

Notre Dame and Alabama have played on six previous occasions, with the Irish leading the series 5-1.

It will be the first time the Irish and Crimson Tide have met in the regular season since a two-game series in 1986 and 1987. "It's just a really cool matchup and will be a great experience for everyone involved".

Alabama has not played a home-and-home football series since Penn State in 2010 and 2011. Alabama's only win over Notre Dame came in 1986 (Lou Holtz's first season at Notre Dame) in a 28-10 victory at Legion Field in Birmingham. They had home-and-home series in 1976 and 1980 and again in the mid-1980s.
