Apple To Replace Some MacBook Pro Laptop Batteries

The units with the possible defect were reportedly manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017

Apple is replacing a number of 13-inch MacBook Pro batteries after reports of a defect causing the built-in battery to expand.

Apple is to offer replacement batteries for some MacBook Pros fitted with batteries that have swollen due to a component failure.

This programme does not affect 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar or older 13-inch MacBook Pro models, Apple said.

If you are eligible, Apple will replace the battery of your MacBook Pro free of cost. The company noted, "Use the serial number checker below to see if your device qualifies for this program". However, the company didn't disclose the exact number of MacBooks which are been affected by the battery issue.

In some MacBook from Apple was defective, namely uzdevumiem during operation of the battery.

A number of MacBook users have reported similar issues on Apple's Support Communities forum, with some complaints referencing 17-inch MacBook Pro models last sold in 2009. Apple walks you through the replacement process here.

Apple says that the servicing may take 3-5 working days.

On Apple's support page for the MacBook Pro, the company has highlighted the following details about the 13-inch notebook.

Affected laptops need to be taken to either an Apple Repair Centre, an Apple Retail Store, or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

In addition, Apple also notes that "if your 13-inch MacBook Pro has any damage which impairs the replacement of the battery, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the battery replacement".
