COMEY CASHES IN: Disgraced FBI Boss's New Book OUTSELLING Clinton, Wolff

Diane Kacprowski showed up at 57th Street Books in Chicago early on Tuesday on a mission to be one of the first to snap up a copy of James Comey's scalding memoir about his time at the helm of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and his abrupt firing by President Donald Trump.

According to the New York Times, Comey's tell-all book, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership" blasted through sales expectations after his media-hyped publicity tour; stopping by The View, The Late Show, and countless other liberal outlets.

Two Capitol Hill sources confirmed to Talking Points Memo that Comey had retained Fitzgerald, though it was not immediately clear in what capacity he made the hire.

There's also an amusing connection to recent news: When James Comey was the Deputy Attorney General during the Bush Administration, he authorized the Special Counsel to investigate Scooter Libby.

Trump dismissed Comey in May past year while the FBI was investigating allegations Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between Russians and Trump's campaign.

Asked what kinds of issues the team helps him with, Comey said: "All the things you might need to talk to counsel about once you're fired".

Appointed to be the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of IL in September 2001, Fitzgerald prosecuted former IL governors Rod Blagojevich and George Ryan, former Chicago Police Cmdr.

At The Strand in New York, Denise Thomas grabbed a copy of the book, which features a staid black cover with silver lettering, saying she hoped it would make sense of the barrage of news from Washington. Jon Burge as well as former Sun-Times owner Conrad Black.

Comey has always maintained that he did not leak any classified information.

Trump earlier this month pardoned Libby, who was convicted of of perjury and obstruction of justice following the disclosure of the identity of former covert Central Intelligence Agency officer Valerie Plame. "Someone much shorter than I am".
