NASHVILLE, Tenn | Man who disarmed Waffle House shooter hailed by lawmakers

Waffle House Suspect Travis Reinking's $2 Million Bond Revoked By Judge Following Criticism Reports 'WSMV'

Reinking drove to the Waffle House parking lot early Sunday and sat there for about four minutes before opening fire, police say.

The Nashville district attorney's office says it was "inundated with calls" from people outraged that Travis Reinking may be back on the streets. Two guns were found at the scene. Authorities stated they adopted Reinking onto a pathway in a wooded space, the place an officer noticed his face and confirmed his identification. But the court filings laid out the beginning of what could be an extensive and unusual criminal case, since mass shootings often end with the suspected shooters dead rather than facing trial.

In an emotional ceremony Tuesday at the Tennessee Capitol, lawmakers gave James Shaw Jr., the man who stopped the deadly attack a Waffle House in a Nashville suburb, a standing ovation for his bravery. Jeffrey Reinking was not immediately available for comment.

He said that during the shooting rampage, he tried to get Shaw to hide in a bathroom with other patrons of the restaurant, knowing that from where they were in a hallway leading to the restrooms that there was no other way out of the establishment except the front door. "I do, once again, apologize to the people that lost loved ones, friends or family". But it left troubling questions about his behavior before the shooting unanswered.

"The motive is undetermined", Aaron wrote in an email Tuesday. But even before Reinking was accused of these horrific murders, his grandmother was anxious. But police said Sunday the father returned the weapons to him.

After that episode, authorities in IL revoked his gun license and confiscated four firearms, including what police said was the rifle used in the Waffle House shooting.

"Always talked about how he was going to marry her", Martellaro said.

All four of Reinking's alleged victims were young people of color.

Reinking told police - once in Tazewell County, Illinois, in 2016, and again in Colorado previous year - that Swift was stalking him.

Nashville Police Department Lt. Carlos Lara told reporters Reinking was arrested Monday after detectives were tipped to the suspect's presence by some construction workers.

The 29-year-old man who confronted and stopped a gunman during a rampage at a Tennessee restaurant was hailed Tuesday as a hero by the U.S. state's legislature.

Davidson County court officials announced Monday that the hearing for 29-year-old Travis Reinking is being rescheduled for May 7.

"We were able to effectively neutralize what we felt was the threat at the time by ensuring that he did not have the ability to purchase or own weapons and that those weapons were taken", Espenshade said.

Reinking faces four counts of criminal homicide. The guns were given to his father, who told police he would lock up and keep them away from his son.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of IL, which includes Tazewell County, declined to comment on the situation Tuesday.

It is not clear why Reinking moved recently from Morton, Illinois, and if it had anything to do with being near Swift.

Authorities knew the dangers posed by Reinking.

The arrest ended a 24-hour manhunt involving more than 160 law enforcement officers, but it left troubling unanswered questions about official responses to months of freaky behavior before the restaurant attack, including encounters with police in IL and Colorado and an arrest at the White House that raised red flags.
