KCK police are reviewing several surveillance cameras that may have captured the incident. Both officers were transported to a local hospital where one remains in critical condition.

Authorities have identified the Wyandotte County sheriff's deputy who died Friday after he and another deputy were shot while transporting an inmate.

A suspect was reportedly shot during the incident and taken to an area hospital. He'd been with the sheriff's office for seven years.

He said the shooting suspect was critically injured in the shooting and is now in surgery.

He's also been charged with murder, assault and armed criminal action in a December 2017 shooting in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Fraternal Order of Police in Kansas City, Kansas, said in a statement: 'We are praying for our friends at the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Officer, their families, friends and our entire blue family.

The shooting happened just before 11:30 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of the courthouse at 710 N. 7th St.

She said there is no other danger to the public.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said that people will now be seeing them wearing mourning bands as a sign of "respect, honor and solidarity".

The conditions of the deputies' are unknown.
