More storms with heavy rain possible into Wednesday

Lightning strikes to the rear of the Boston skyline at the beginning of an evening's severe weather activity in Eastern Massachusetts in this

It's a First Alert Weather Day for a severe storm threat today. Heavy rainfall could cause flash flooding, particularly in areas with poor drainage. This will erode cloud cover and for temperatures to fall into the 60s for lows. Showers and storms will build early along I-75 and continue to push inland through the afternoon.

The weather service says storms today will be driven in part by terrain and sea breezes.

Offshore wind with near seasonal daytime highs with waves of wet weather expected. It will be mostly cloudy and temperatures will be a little cooler.

CANON CITY: High - 90; Low - 65.

Thu: High: 99 Sunny and hotter. There is a concern for flooding, with a total of 1 to 1.5 inches of rainfall possible.

WOODLAND PARK: High - 77; Low - 51.

Heavy rain will enter the Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City and Boston regions late Tuesday afternoon. Because of this, a Flash Flood Watch has been issued for much of the state through this evening. Highs will top-out in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

The storms are expected to taper off in the five boroughs starting at about 5:30 p.m., but will stick around later for points north and east.

That means a chance for a showers and thunderstorms straight through the weekend, with highs in the low to mid 80s. Some models show afternoon rain chances as well, so we are keeping an eye on that.
