More Than 100 Former Ohio State Students Allege Abuse By School Doctor

Report: Jordan Named in New Ohio State Wrestler Lawsuit

Ohio State says the investigation has uncovered reports of Strauss' sexual misconduct from former male student-athletes across 14 sports, as well as from former patients of the university's student clinic.

Former athletes say they verbally raised concerns about Strauss as early as the late 1970s.

"We are grateful to those who have come forward and remain deeply concerned for anyone who may have been affected by Dr. Strauss' actions", Ohio State President Michael V. Drake said in the statement. Since that time, the independent investigators at Perkins Coie LLP, an worldwide law firm with expertise in these matters, have completed interviews with more than 200 former students and university staff believed to have information concerning the allegations involving Strauss.

Some of the accusers have claimed that US Rep. Jim Jordan of OH - an OSU assistant wrestling coach between 1987 and 1995 - knew about the abuse but did nothing.

The Associated Press reported today that Jordan was interviewed by the law firm looking into the Strauss allegations and OSU's response to complaints about the doctor.

Strauss had worked as the university physician for more than 20 years before retiring in 1998.

"I participated with Jimmy and the other wrestlers in locker-room talk about Strauss".

The university continues to encourage anyone with information about incidents relating to Strauss and his time at Ohio State to contact investigators at osu@perkinscoie.com.

"The rampant sexual abuse and culture of sexual abuse was reported to Ohio State administrators and to the head of the athletic department", the complaint said.

Strauss killed himself in 2005. The victims, the school said, could have included high school-age students while he was still employed at Ohio State.

Fury declined to provide details about the interview, including whether Jordan was accompanied by an attorney during the session.

Several wrestlers had accused him of knowing but failing to report sexual abuse by the team doctor.

The news comes days after a group of former athletes filed a pair of class-action lawsuits against the school. He denies having any knowledge of Strauss' alleged abuse, and says that he would've acted if he did. He's said that it was a running joke that no matter what ailment a person asked Strauss to look at, the doctor would always examine his genitals.

The complaint also mentions Jordan and wrestling coach Russ Hellickson, noting multiple instances in which wrestlers had informed the men of groping and harassment by Strauss.
