Browns to release WR Josh Gordon

082518-jg-2560

If Gordon's issues don't stem from substance abuse then there undoubtedly will be a number of teams looking to acquire a wideout with his huge talent.

We don't know the official word yet, but the Browns clearly reached the end of their rope with Gordon, who is one of the most talented receivers in the National Football League but has struggled with his sobriety and been a thorn in the Browns' side after the team went above and beyond to help him recover.

So while an 0-16 no longer wants Gordon after putting up with his troubles for six years, there's a handful of other teams that will happily accept his talent.

The Browns announced on Saturday that they will part ways with receiver Josh Gordon following the team's Week 2 game against the Saints.

Gordon re-joined Cleveland in late August after he stepped away from the team to deal with personal issues before the start of training camp. "We wish Josh well".

Gordon, who returned in December from a three-year suspension for multiple violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy, was expected to play a key role on a new-look Browns offense this fall.

The stunning news came just hours after the Browns said Gordon would miss Sunday's game in New Orleans with a hamstring injury. He reunited with the club August 18. The move came after Gordon did not report to the Browns' facility on time earlier in the day, according to a report from The Athletic, which cites an unidentified league source.

There's all kinds of speculation surrounding the Browns' decision to part ways with Gordon.
