California Professor Comes Forward as Brett Kavanaugh’s Accuser

Anita Hill Calls for an Investigation into the Allegation of Sexual Abuse Against Brett Kavanaugh

She says both Kavanaugh and Judge were "stumbling drunk", and Judge eventually jumped on top of both of them, allowing her to struggle free and lock herself in the bathroom until the boys left.

Kavanaugh emphatically denied the allegations, which were reported last week after Sen.

The newspaper said Ford first made contact via an anonymous tip line earlier in the summer, when Kavanaugh's name began to be linked to the supreme court position. In any event, Kavanaugh has issued a blanket denial.

Kavanaugh was quickly defended by friends and acquaintances from the time who cast doubts on the alleged incident.

In her Sunday op-ed, Feinstein accuses Kavanaugh of being overly ideological and references the sexual misconduct allegation. For the White House, another scandal might be one too many. "That was true when he was in high school, and it has remained true to this day", they said.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said that he would like to have Kavanaugh confirmed by October 1, the start of the Supreme Court's new term.

In a written response to a follow-up question from Sen.

"There's no plan to change the committee's consideration of Judge Kavanaugh's nomination", Hartmann said in a statement.

"I thought he might inadvertently kill me", Christine Blasey Ford, 51, told The Washington Post in a report published online Sunday.

Ford's husband told the Post that she used Kavanaugh's name in the therapy sessions and anxious he would be nominated to the Supreme Court. Both have come under great pressure from pro-choice campaigners who fear that Kavanaugh would attempt to overturn the Roe v Wade 1973 decision that legalised abortion.

According to the Post Ms. Ford first detailed the incident in 2012, "when she was in couples therapy with her husband".

"Now I feel like my civic responsibility is outweighing my anguish and terror about retaliation", Ford told the Post.

The committee is scheduled to vote on whether or not to move Kavanaugh's nomination forward on Thursday. The most likely outcome is that Republicans would confirm a second probable perpetrator of sexual assault to the high court.

Ford told the Post she chose to come forward after watching portions of her story come out without her permission. Ford declined to speak to the Post on the record until this week, after the letter's existence was revealed. She submitted to a polygraph test with an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent and passed, and while polygraph tests have questionable value, a person who was making up an accusation would probably not want to offer to take one. However, they do not include Kavanaugh's name.

"I have received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court", Feinstein said in her surprise statement. "I was very ill-equipped to forge those kinds of relationships". Ginsburg was confirmed in two months by a vote of 96-to-3.

The White House's response to the allegation raises the cultural stakes of the fight.

She continued: "The Senate Judiciary Committee should put in place a process that enables anyone with a complaint of this nature to be heard".

Thomas' truthfulness vis-a-vis Professor Anita Hill's claims of sexual harassment have never been fully resolved, nor has the controversy ever ended.
