Brett Kavanaugh was 'belligerent and aggressive' drinker, Yale classmate says

Just after the gavel came down and the hearing came to a close on Sept. 28 Sen. Jeff Flake is surrounded by fellow Sens. Thom Tillis above left Mike Crapo and Lindsey Graham, lower right. Flake had just appealed for a delay on Brett

Asked at that news conference about the message being sent to young women, Trump focused on women's complaints about how Kavanaugh has been treated through his confirmation process. He said it was Flake who deserved "whatever kudos or credit there is" because "he's the one who has deeply angered his caucus and caused great consternation to his majority leader".

In Bob Woodward's "Fear: Trump in the White House", the author quotes Trump telling a friend about his strategy in cases involving sexual accusations: "You've got to deny, deny, deny and push back on these women. That's one of the very, very bad things that's taking place right now".

Trump also predicted that Kavanaugh could be a "rallying cry" for Republicans as the GOP works to motivate voters to turn out and cast a ballot.

Democratic Senator Chris Coons told reporters he was in discussions with the White House on the probe.

While the sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh are deeply troubling, there's unlikely to be the kind of clear evidence for these acts as there might be for accusations of perjury.

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday the reaction to decades-old allegations of sexual assault against his Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh makes it "a very scary time" for young men in the United States.

NBC meanwhile said the Federal Bureau of Investigation was not being allowed to investigate claims by Julie Swetnick, who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct at drink-fueled parties in his student days.

Lisa Murkowski, a key undecided vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, says she's not anxious that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is moving too fast on the nomination this week.

Mr Trump said he believed the judge would be confirmed.

Kavanaugh has also not been helped by the emergence of former Yale classmates who have accused him of lying to the committee about his college drinking habits when he told the panel that he "did not drink beer to the point of blacking out".

"Donnelly's decision to oppose President Trump's highly qualified nominee is a grave mistake, but proves he is more concerned with standing with his liberal Democrat leaders than standing for Hoosiers".

We request your patience as the FBI completes its investigation."Ford said during her testimony at a dramatic Senate hearing last Thursday that Judge was in the bedroom where the alleged assault by Kavanaugh occurred". On Monday, his lawyer Barbara "Biz" Van Gelder said he had been interviewed "but his interview has not been completed".

The White House noted that Kavanaugh wasn't arrested or charged and questioned the incident's relevance.

Ford shared her allegation at an extraordinary congressional hearing last week that also included Kavanaugh's angry and emotional denial.

Monday marked Flake's second New Hampshire visit this year. Kavanaugh denies the allegation. "What's happening here has much more to do than even the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice".

Protesters have also focused on two other senators who are undecided on Kavanaugh - moderate Republicans Susan Collins of ME and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. "The FBI needs to be allowed to pursue all reasonable investigatory steps from the credible allegations in front of the committee", he said. Another Yale classmate, Jennifer Klaus, said she often socialized with Kavanaugh at Yale and vigorously disputed his portrayal of himself.

Charles "Chad" Ludington, who teaches at North Carolina State University, said he was a friend of Mr Kavanaugh at Yale and he was "a frequent drinker, and a heavy drinker".

A lawyer for Mr Judge, who has denied any wrongdoing, declined to say when the interview finished or what he was asked.
